State tax levy eyed for education only after cuts
State Auditor Guilbert expects the 1.35 mill levy to drop to 1.31 or 1.28 in coming session as debt interest ends. If cut to four tenths of a mill, the remaining levy funds education entirely with 0.95 for common schools 0.22 for universities 0.14 for interest in the irreducible debt. Also noted is no change planned to the Dow tax. The item ends with condolences on the death of Bernie Hooker, son of E P Hooker, a young man of promise and high standing.
