Ohio Republicans fix state convention in Columbus for June 24 25

The Ohio Republican central committee set the state convention in Columbus for Monday and Tuesday June 24 25 to accommodate absent leaders Senator J B Foraker and Governor Nash. Foraker named temporary chairman and is expected to give the keynote. M A Hanna may become permanent chairman if health permits. John R Malloy chosen as temporary secretary and noted for a strong voice. Nash seeks reelection. Foraker seeks reelection. both are deemed essential to the party. Democrats are seen plotting local issues to gain Senate and Governor posts, but Ohio remains prosperous with farmers and workers optimistic. Kilbourne is the likely Democratic governor candidate unless Johnson or McLean crowds gain strength. Weather and farming conditions show mixed progress with corn planting lagging in some regions and wheat looking good.
