A Bryan rumor claimed Dr. Tubbs was murdered, but a telephone report cleared the matter. At a Robison’s circus side show in Bryan, Orrian Hubbard demanded money back after a skin game. a struggle led to a discharged revolver grazing a bystander. Hubbard was arrested and discharged after a hearing.

Annual Convocation Opens Defiance College Week
Defiance college began commencement week with a Sunday convocation at the Presbyterian church attended by the entire class of 1900. Dr J B H Latchaw preached on the Ministry of Beauty while the choir and soloists Mrs Gertrude Schrack Miss Maud Foust and others performed in a moving service. He urged thoughtful courage to think aloud and closed with the motto Is this beautiful is it becoming in me to do this thing.
