Relief Pledged for Worthy Widows in County

The Soldiers' Relief Commission completed six months of allowances for worthy soldiers and widows. John Rover of Highland township received temporary relief of $10, and eighteen widows were placed on the roll at $3 per month. The list covers Defiance city, Hicksville, and Washington and includes names such as Mrs. Jas. Hatfield and Mrs. Elizabeth Schooley.

June Term Common Pleas Court Defiance County Proceedings

The June term of the Defiance County Common Pleas Court convened with Judge W H Hubbard. Docket items: cases dismissed, defaults entered, and several dockets off. Grand jury named. bailiffs appointed. deputy clerk Mollie Kiser retired with Florence Rudolph succeeding. County levy announced totaling 2.5 to 3.0 mills, lower than last year. An advertisement for Rocky Mountain Tea concludes.
