Schoepf syndicate plans Columbus and Lake Michigan line

The Schoepf syndicate controls most of Central Ohio traction and will start a 200000 dollar powerhouse at Lima or Bellefontaine to extend the Columbus and Lake Michigan line from Lima to Bellefontaine and onward via Marysville to Columbus. They eye Marysville and Plain City and may enter Columbus via the Scioto storage dam route. North Lewisburg interests push for a Bellefontaine to Marysville path to avoid Logan County hills and reduce costs.

DOME OF JUSTICE Sets Feb Trials In Ottawa Court

Judge Bailey convened common pleas court in Ottawa. The grand jury, with W. F. Moats as foreman, is hearing witnesses. Docket for Feb 19 to Feb 28 lists Stryker vs Holdbridge, Miller vs Wilerman, Price vs Galispe, Strubel vs Chase et al. Bailiffs Harry Brine and Webster Kopp appointed. A marriage license granted to H F Helmke, 26, Richland Township, and Sophie Bierderstadt, 21, Adams Township.

Exciting Adventure Ends With Narrow Escape in buggy incident

Webster Kopp showed grit last Thursday at the Switzer barn by hitching the sheriff's team. When the horses began to run he grabbed the bow, climbed to the buggy pole, and secured the reins to stop the team before the Second street bridge. He suffered scrapes and bruises but no major damage. Joseph Haller of Toledo spent Sunday in the city.

Linthicum Fined $100 for Criminal Libel Case

Special to Express Napoleon Feb. 11 The motion for a new trial in the case of J. R. Linthicum the lawyer politician convicted last month of criminal libel against Mrs. Mary Donnelly wife of Judge Donnelly of the circuit court was overruled Saturday by Judge Cameron and Linthicum was sentenced to pay a $100 fine and costs. Linthicum will appeal to the circuit court. Syl Garver returned from Cleveland after being summoned by the death of Mrs. Conkle.

Wooster social clubs and a wedding fill a winter week

A flurry of Wooster social events includes Bridge and Euchre clubs hosted by Mrs Kettenring and Mrs Miers, a National Union session, Knights of Columbus gathering, and a large wedding at Rev S L Roberts home where Ernie Bell and Lillian Clark wed. Two Accidents Leave Victims with Injuries

Peter Memmer, near the B & O station, slipped from a ladder while patching a chimney, suffering an impacted fracture of the neck of the femur and two cuts from the ladder. Monday a Degler mill worker’s son in Stanley cut two fingers with a saw, risking loss of a finger though both may be saved.

Second anniversary celebration of Co. held at the armory

Members gathered at the armory on Wednesday February 6 for the unit’s second anniversary. The Sixth Regimental band played and the company quartet performed. Matches included Lake Corwin defeating L Hopper in wrestling, a tug of war won by the Scalpers over the Skinners, a Schmaltz vs Myers comedy bout, a draw in the Rath versus Carl Miller heavyweight wrestling match, and Schmaltz winning the cartridge gathering. Boxing by Tillman and Telliga ended with both awarded umbrellas after the match. A banquet followed with oysters ham wieners celery pickles and coffee and a final smoker.

Local church calls Arthur Cooper as pastor

At a congregational meeting of the Presbyterian church Rev. John D. Campbell presided. A ballot of 30 to 14 approved calling Arthur B. Cooper of Green Bay Wisconsin. Lawrence of Ottawa was not chosen. Cooper, about 36 with four children, has strong endorsements including Rev. Powell of Toledo.
