John Imbers of Washington Street narrowly escaped death at 4 p.m. Thursday when two counter shafts broke in the Turnbull Wagon company shop in East Defiance. A four inch head gash and multiple injuries including a broken collar bone and punctured wounds were treated by Dr. Powell. Imbers is reported as improving.

Dicus Family to Spend Christmas in Defiance
Mr and Mrs Emmett Dicus and children of Chickasaw will arrive Monday to spend Christmas with their parents here Mrs Dicus and children stay two weeks while Mr Dicus returns to Chickasaw where he runs a stave factory. He left Defiance July 27 to form the Chickasaw Stave Co with D C Dunn Cridersville. The business has shipped 67 cars since August and timber is sufficient for eight months. They anticipate a large winter timber crop hauled by farmers and note that this winter is a time of up to date hus tlers in the area.
