Delinquent tax sale announced by Defiance county Republican paper
The issue delays due to publishing the delinquent tax list. This marks the first ever Republican paper to print the delinquent tax sale in Defiance county. The sale appears a second and last time this week. Several communications are omitted for space, to appear next week. Local notes report J M Phillips returning home from Day ton and Cincinnati, T C Elliott hosting an oyster supper for Mr. Robinson, a spiritual meeting at Au glaize chapel continuing without conversions, Maumee ice marked for cutting, and the Ankeny town wreck survivors' New Year reunion at J W Myers's home with a good turnout.

Skated into eternity on thin Maumee ice tragedy
January 1 around 7:50 on the Maumee river near Independence two young lovers Miss Lillian Dils 21 and Henry Clemmons 26 drowned after skating onto a thin frozen surface. Their bodies were found by Oscar Dils the sister’s brother. Miss Dils funeral set for Thursday afternoon and Mr Clemmons Friday morning.
