Discrimination Bill In Pennsylvania House Passes

A bill to end discrimination in railroad freights passed the Pennsylvania House on the seventh. Rep Leary, jailed in New York for Massachusetts bank robbery complicity, escaped on the seventh with outside help. A major mine explosion near Wilkesbarre injured many and burned 600 feet of coal. The American Tract Society and the American Home Missionary Society held annual meetings in New York. The Brooklyn Presbytery acquitted Dr Talmage on the eighth. England beat America in a cricket match in New York. The American Bible Society marked its sixty third anniversary with large Bible production and distribution figures. R. E. Parrott died in New York. Joan Rogers died in New York. The Atlantic Fire Insurance Company retires after reinsurance. Two drownings occurred in New York and Illinois factory closures followed. Socialists and unions push an eight hour demand. Freight rates from Chicago to the seaboard were cut. Two hangings occurred in North Carolina and Georgia. A clash followed Appling executions. An insane man declared after an assault on Edwin Booth. A tight rope accident in Columbus injures Victor critically.
