Forepaugh arrives July 31 with fifty eight cars as Defiance county Democrats clash over nominees including Hill for Auditor and Bevington for Probate Judge. The stormy convention features extensive ballots and sharp critique of candidates amid party tension and local editorials.
Growing disaffection in county Democrats over nominations
The county Democratic party faces broad revolt against nominees J. H. Bevington for Probate Judge and W. J. Hill for Auditor. Voters criticize incompetence and taxation stances, denounce caucus packing, and warn they will bolt the ticket. Many outraged loyalists accuse interlopers of scheming and condemn party leaders without personal feuds.
