Narrow Escape At Turnbull Wagon Works

Andy Hammersmith an employee at the Turnbull Wagon factory escaped severe injury when starting a large belt after a stop. The lever caught the belt and threw him over the main shaft. he fell clear and sustained severe bruises to the head face and body. He was unconscious briefly but is now recovering.

Builders plan Clinton street brick block with opera house

Messrs C Harley and L Tiedeman have bought the Gier property on Clinton street between second and third. They will start August first on a brick block with 66 feet frontage and 132 feet depth. If arranged they will finish the second story as a first class opera house, possibly enlarging to 76 feet frontage by arched adjoining space. The project could surpass the Krotz opera room and reflect credit on the city and developers.
