Fire swept through Sherwood, a village west of Defiance, starting in a barn behind G F Brenner’s dry goods. Within two hours about fifteen buildings, valued at rough $25,000, were destroyed. residents saved homes and stores, while insurance covered most losses. Firefighters, a hook and ladder plan, and limited water hindered containment.
