Old Stove Foundry Destroyed in Jackson Street Fire
Fire erupted about 2 AM at the old stove foundry on Jackson Street. Peter Sieren raised the alarm as flames spread from the upper northwest corner. The blaze damaged two adjacent houses but the damp conditions and lack of wind helped keep it from spreading further. The foundry owned by John Kiser, used recently as Salvation Army meeting space, was entirely destroyed with $800 insurance. Origin remains unknown as no prior fire occurred in the area and roof dampness argues against flying-sparks cause.
