Forensic Tournament Hosted by Speech Drama Dept
The Speech and Drama Department will host the annual Forensic Tournament on Friday and Saturday, January 20 11. The event starts at 3 p.m. Friday and concludes Saturday afternoon with 20 to 30 Gulf Coast Area high schools participating. Directors include Clay Embry, Kathi Buchanan, Nancy Stanley, Jeri Baker, Jean Braden, Charlene Bigham, Steve Torno, Doug Manning, Nick Novak, John Hefley, Linda Torna, Becky Burr, Beth Hollis, Marc Novak, Cindy Bell, Keith George, Randy Porter, and Mary Fort. Judges will be parents and others not involved in school activities. Timekeepers are sought through Mr. Don McWhirter.

State Farm dividend pacts and earning claims in auto policy rewards
State Farm reportedly paid 10,000,000 dollars in dividends to Tex policyholders last year, claimed to be three times larger than any other auto insurer. Deer Park Luncheon Menu for January Weekdays
A midwinter lunch menu lists daily options from January 13 to January 16. Monday offers Steak with sides and fruit, Tuesday features Spaghetti with salad and fruit, Wednesday serves Fried chicken with mash and vegetables, Thursday presents Hot dog with sides and blackberry cobbler, and Friday offers Fried fish or macaroni with rolls and pineapple carrot salad with cookies.
December Pack Meeting for Cub Scout Troop 534
The December Pack Meeting opened by Den 4 with a skit by Den 5 and Den 7 displaying Christmas decorations. Den 1 shared the Christmas story while Webelos conducted experiments. Awards went to Kenneth Doxey and Larry Ledbetter for ticket sales, and Den 5 won the attendance award.

Deer Park civil defense fireman B. W. Farmer and G. C. Sanders attend heavy duty rescue training at Texas A&M University from January 6 to 10. The Newtons flew to Long Beach to visit son Rick in the Navy and toured Universal Studios meeting celebrities.
