The summer library story hours have final sessions this week while fall sessions begin the week of September 15. To enroll a child in the fall story hour a child must be at least three by March 1969 and all participants must be registered or re registered at the library or by calling 479 5276.
Mrs. Mary Byers told police that a woman snatched her wig from her head in a Kansas City restaurant. The item was valued at $164.
State Sen. Chet Brooks of Pasadena filed a bill in Austin to create six new district criminal courts in Harris County. Officials cite a backlogged caseload and limited capacity as justification. Dist. Atty. Carol Vance backs the move, while Governor Preston Smith hints the measure could be considered in the upcoming call.
W. J. Butler, works manager for Diamond Shamrock Chemical Company's Deer Park plant, was appointed to the Industry Advisory Council for ISA's 24th International Conference and Exhibit. The conference runs October 27 to 30 at Houston's Astrohall, drawing engineers, scientists, and over 400 exhibiting companies for a major Southwest educational and economic event.
WYNELL SCHREBBER HEN DRIX was honored with a stork shower on Tuesday August 19 at the home of Mrs. E DB Stobaugh 112 West Vaughan Lane. Co hosts were Mrs Stobaugh Theah Fleck Joyce Green Nelda Heinze and Sandy Heinze. About 30 guests attended. Larry Tarrington a senior at Deer Park High School attended the Summer Science Training Project in Baton Rouge from June 5 to July 31. It was sponsored by the 1969 LSU National Science Fair. He was one of 60 chosen from 129 applicants. He is the son of Mr and Mrs E A Tarkington 2502 Jana Lane Pasadena. Home on leave is Pvt John Monroe Dustin Koch. After leave he will go to Fort Knox KY and be assigned as an Armored Intelligence Recon Specialist.
