Mike Warren Leads Local Chamber Of Commerce Growth Efforts

Mike Warren has chaired the Cham ber of Commerce for two years after being elected in 1968 and 1969. The group with about 70 members plans to hire a part time manager to boost effectiveness. Committees include Business Development and Housing, aiming to attract business, improve infrastructure, and promote civic matters. Warren also serves as operations manager at Equity Export, handling international ship loading from India, Brazil, and other countries. He and his wife live on Columbia Street and attend First Methodist Church.

Letters from a serviceman on Hornet recount Apollo 11 recovery

James R. Collier, a Deer Park sailor aboard the USS Hornet, writes of Apollo 11 recovery on August 25, 1969. He describes the splashdown, astronauts Armstrong Collins and Aldrin, the president's visit, and the excitement aboard the carrier as the capsule was retrieved and astronauts moved to the decontamination van before arrival in Houston.
