Miss Charlene Clark Weds Paul Flowers in April Nuptials
Miss Charlene Joyce Clark and Paul DeWayne Flowers united in a nuptial mass at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Saturday April 19. Father Mitchell M. Keppler officiated the double ring ceremony with gladioli and chrysanthemum decorations. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an Aline organdy gown with lace bodice and a heart diamond necklace. Maid of Honor Cheryl Clark and best man Gene Morris led a church reception and house party. Out of town guests included relatives from Holden Missouri Dallas Texas Las Vegas Nevada Houston and Cleveland. The couple plan to reside in Houston after a brief honeymoon.

Deepwater Junior High captured 37 trophies at the Dickinson Interscholastic League meet held March 29 at McAdams Junior High in Dickinson. Top honors went to numerous students across events including Reading, Acting, Humorous, Extemp, Dramatic, Prose Reading, Story Telling, Original Oration, Ready Writing, and Spelling with coaches Christine Kravetz, Patricia Mullins, Martha Strauss, Joyce Ingle, Joyce Holliman, and Charlene Poole.

Senator Chet Brooks of Pasadena authored the measure to ban deceptive solicitation by promoters invoking lodges clubs or public groups It passed the Senate 28 to 0 The bill would amend the Texas Business and Commercial Code to require prior written approval before soliciting advertising in an organization name to prevent misrepresentation and protect public funds
