CarShare Program Launch Aids Houston Commuters

Houston Mayor Fred Hofheinz announces the CarShare program. Beginning July 17 residents in the Houston metro area can join free to carpool via computer matching. Participants can sign up through employers or by dial in at 227-003. data used only for matching.

Six Fires Reported in Deer Park Week

The Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department answered 10 calls in the past week including six fires and four first aid incidents. Incidents included a kitchen fire on Irene with no structural damage, a gas leak after a cut line on W Third, dumpster fires at Highway 225 and 134, and multiple fires in College Park including dumpsters on College Park Drive and a paper compress fire on the Luella and Spencer corner. All medical calls went to the hospital.

Robbery suspects nabbed after ferry blockades

Two men accused of armed robbery were chased by Deer Park Pasadena and county officers after an incident that included a man losing money at a soda machine which the robber refunded. Police halted traffic at Lynchburg Ferry and entries to La Porte before the duo was captured 30 minutes later by Pasadena Police near Highway 225 and Richey. Bond set at $20,000 each. they were taken to Pasadena for questioning and will be moved to Harris County Jail.
