A new session of classes starts the week of January 3 at the Community Center 610 San Augustine with varied classes for all ages. The building closes Dec 24 and 31. Movie showings on holiday break include Valley Of The Gwangi on Dec 28 with 50 cent tickets.

Man Struck By Car Leaves Injured Motorcyclist In ICU
Pasadena man Michael William Opelt, 23, was struck while riding west on Highway 225 Friday evening and left in a ditch. The driver, Joseph Daniel Bowen, 31, Arcola, fled the scene, later surrendering to police and facing a failure to stop and render aid charge in 184th District Court. Opelt remained in the ICU Tuesday with head and leg injuries. Deer Park Emergency Corps aided at the scene before transport.

Woman Dies In Auto Accident On Spencer Highway
A Pasadena woman Rhonda Baker Maxwell, 21, died early Monday when driving west on Spencer Highway she ran off the road into a bridge abutment and split her car into four pieces. Divers recovered her body from a canal under the bridge at 1:55 a.m. Harris County morgue received the remains.

Cause Unknown Nerve Damage Found At Shell
A Shell Oil Company report states eight workers in the tube dewaxing unit were tested for peripheral neuropathy. Four of the eight showed nerve damage while remaining results were inconclusive regarding work relation. Tests include clinical exams and EMG. causes may include diabetes and chemicals such as toluene.
