City moves to certify 1970 tax roll and plan bond sale
City Administrator reports 1970 tax roll certified at 139,403,375 100 percent value with 111,522,700 at 80 percent. Bond sale approved for 1.5 million to fund water sewer streets garbage land buildings. Projects include Center Street Phase II north sewer, park land, and a new 10 acre park site at Iowa Gardens with 50 percent HUD reimbursement.

Center Cleaners Moves Under New Ownership
Center Cleaners at 838 Center St is now operated by Mrs. Louise Thomas and her husband Dean after purchasing in April from Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Burkett who retired for health reasons. The Deer Park business offers laundry and one day cleaning with staff including Vera Valentine and Velma Harris. The Thomases have lived in Deer Park 16 years and have two married daughters in Pasadena and Houston.
