In an interview, Chief Gage defends Deer Park police as a crime prevention service, notes good facilities and staffing, and cites a dry city and humane officers. He discusses pay, budget needs, and family life, including his wife Lillian and two children.
The Deer Park Jaycees outline rules on blood credits including eligibility for qualified recipients residents of the same household and limits on credit releases. Credits over 100 may be released by a simple majority vote of the executive council, and credits cannot be sold or released for financial gain or when the donor blood is replaced by another blood bank.
Deer Park and South Houston will host grand openings within a month for two 21000 square foot shopping centers. Major tenant Baby Giant Food Stores anchors the Deer Park site at Spencer Highway with 3500 square feet still available. South Houston center houses Baby Giant and several other tenants with 750 square feet remaining.
Funeral services for John Allen Dugas 810 Oak Lead La Porte were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Rosenberg. A former Deer Park resident he was active in youth rodeo and a life time member of the Houston Fat Stock Show. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church La Porte Southwestern Cattle Raising Association and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Deer Park Lodge and a member of the American Purchasing Agents Association. Survivors include his wife Mrs Farline Dugas La Porte daughters Carol Diane Quartz Baytown Lori Denise Dugas La Porte son Jamye Darryl Dugas Pasadena and brother Curtis Dugas Houston. Services were at Germany Funeral Home Rosenberg after lying in state at Art Simpson Funeral Home La Porte.
