Hospitals Endorse Health Maintenance in Texas
The Texas Hospital Association Board endorses Health Maintenance Organizations as a delivery method to expand care in suitable areas. HMOs would be owned or controlled by representative community members, not a single professional group, with pilots encouraged to meet state health needs. An HMO provides prepaid, comprehensive care for a defined geographic population, with a fixed annual or monthly fee.
