The Sylvan Beach Day celebration in La Porte features a 10 a.m. parade from 8th Street to La Porte High School, a public barbecue at Sylvan Beach Park from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $2, the Miss Sylvan Beach Beauty Pageant at 2:30 p.m., and a dance at Sylvan Beach Pavilion from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $10 per couple.
Deer Park Independent School District reports the south campus high school should be ready for final inspection by May 15. Landscape work approved. Service Center completion expected around May 1. Board approves buses, equalization appointees, and replaces sports designations with major and minor.
