Ruth Law to Fly at Winneshiek County Fair

Ruth Law, famed aviatrix and world long distance record holder, will perform aeroplane flights at the Decorah fair on August 16 and 17. She has returned from Europe and is now recruiting for the U S aerial corps, touring to secure enlistments while promoting fair week entertainment.

Arrival of Consul Ravndal in Zurich and departing Americans

Washington dispatches dated May 15 report Consul General Ravndal arriving in Zurich to lead the first party of Americans leaving Turkey after diplomatic ties were broken. He notes the travelers were greeted courteously along the route. Locally, Mrs. Ravndal and family have lived in Decorah for two years. Governor Harding vetoed senate file sixteen which would repeal the non partisan judiciary act and restore the circle to the ballots. The veto leaves parties without authority to name candidates for the state supreme court and preserves the ballot without the circle. The action was announced to Secretary of State Allen.

Death of State Treasurer W C Brown in Des Moines

W C Brown state treasurer died last Saturday morning at his home in the Maine apartments Des Moines and was buried Tuesday in Clarion. He had been in feeble health over two years. He worked Friday and went home about four o clock when a heart attack struck and proved fatal.

Death of Ex Senator Foraker in Cincinnati

Joseph Hensin Foraker former United States senator from Ohio died at his Cincinnati home aged 70 after a lengthy illness. He had been in poor health since leaving the senate in 1900 and was bedridden for two weeks with his condition not critical until last night.
