Obituary: Hans Johnson Dies at Locust Area Pioneer
Hans Johnson an early settler near Locust died on the 11th at the Old People's Home in Minneapolis after moving there in March. Born October 20, 1832 in Bergen Norway he came to America about sixty years ago. Survived by four children Lizzie Ringdahl Stoughton Wis Hannah Dahl Prosper Hans Decorah Elliott Decorah. remains moved to Decorah for burial Thursday night and funeral held Friday at Locust.

Residents watching Monday and Tuesday evenings between 9 and 10 saw a bright red star like object in the eastern sky. The object shifted position and color toward a green blue, with occasional meteors nearby. An astronomer in St. Louis, Father Brenan, says it is the remnant of a comet believed to be the oldest in the solar system, the comet dying but leaving a faint nucleus.
