The aged Charles Alvin Hiatt was laid to rest at Hesper cemetery on July 29 after living in Hesper and nearby communities from early childhood. He was born August 11, 1854 in Westfield Indiana and married Lillie Meader in 1880, survived by his wife, son Claude, and other relatives. funeral at the Friends church followed by eastward burial. Also reported are the deaths of M P Moran, Decorah Standard Telephone Co. manager, and Mrs Harold Sersland, pioneer resident of Glenwood and Frankville townships, with services noted in Madison and Washington Prairie churches respectively, leaving families and many friends in mourning.
