Mrs. John Veal, wife of the Veal's Carnival Company owner, died last week due to a drug overdose. Her remains were buried locally.
Charles T. Rountree and Miss May Burleson were quietly married last Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. D. L. Downs in West Decatur. After the ceremony they left on a trip north.
A. J. White, a well known farmer on the Danville road near Decatur, fell from a haystack and sustained a serious fracture in one arm.
The Veal Carnival Company, which spent last winter in this area, will return to winter here again this season continuing its seasonal presence and operations in the local community.
John W. Price, brother of Hon. Charles L. Price, has invented and patented a farm wagon claimed to be far ahead of current market offerings. A stock company will organize to manufacture the wagon, and a local factory may be built.
Tax values in the county increase from 10,545,007 to 11,490,294. Last year tax collections were 151,493.92. Under the valuation raise this year taxes total 170,203.30, about 20,000 higher.
