Kidnaping pair held after 8 year old found unharmed
Everett Washington FBI and Snohomish deputies arrested George Edward Collins Jr. and his wife Katherine after the Lee Crary kidnapping. The 8 year old was found walking near Lake Stevens and ransom notes demanding $10,000 had not been paid. Collins admitted the abduction in a 13 page statement.

Merchants in Moulton Alabama anticipate little disruption from a new one percent sales tax earmarked for Lawrence County schools set to begin October 1. The revenue, projected at 68 000 to 70 000 dollars annually, will be collected by the state with existing taxes and turned over to the Lawrence County Board of Education to repay school bonds. Veteran Highway Patrol Capt. W F Dyar today was transferred from Birmingham to Decatur. Capt Dyar will replace C chell as head of the Decatur district. Mitchell has been in charge of the local office since Feb 12. He will take over the Birmingham district. The change in commands was announced along with routine transfers of other personnel at the Decatur station. Capt Dyar arrived to assume immediate command. Mitchell was to leave for Birmingham. He thanked civic leaders for cooperation during his stay. He enjoys the move as a South Alabama boy nearer home. Mitchell resides in Evergreen. Other changes include Roy Thomas moving from Lawrence County to Montgomery. Wilburn Craft has resigned from the department. Lawrence County will be patrolled from Morgan until replacements are made. Patrolman J C Clemmons is transferring to Cullman from Morgan County. He will work in Cullman with E M Dixon. Dixon's former partner D T Jones will take Clemon's place in Morgan.
