A U S government official said East German authorities plan arrest and mass deportation of Germans living near the Berlin and East German boundary. The official spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity and provided the information.

Alabama lawmakers opt for a 9-8 plan letting nine congressmen run in nine districts until a May 1 primary. A May 15 runoff would determine the eight nominees after a statewide vote, with the lowest in the runoff eliminated. Governor Patterson awaits final approval. Bell, Robinson's ad appears.
Silas Lang resigns from the Lawrence County Board of Revenue southeast district effective immediately due to health. Gov. Patterson may appoint a successor before Lang's January 1963 term ends. remaining members are Roy Lee Terry Gilbert Harris Pride Saint. C C McWhorter is chairman. Lang, 54, cites ruptured ulcer and plans to retire to pastor duties at East Side Baptist Church Russellville.
