Senate approves funds for Trade School expansion in Decatur
In Montgomery the Senate passed the general education bill with a 750000 earmark for the Tennessee Valley Trade School in Decatur. The House version supported the grant but a conditional clause tied to state revenue could affect capital outlay funding, ending a lengthy 28 hour session as lawmakers adjourned at 3:45 am.

Pedestrian Hit Hospitalized In Decatur Traffic Incident
A 60 year old man, Nathan Thompson, was seriously injured after being struck by a car on Grant St between 6th and 8th Avenues. The driver, Donald Harris Dublin, 18, of 607 Grant St, swerved to avoid the pedestrian. A half pint of moonshine whiskey was found beside the victim. Investigating officers were Sgt. W. C. Hunter and Patrolman Douglas Crabb.

Morgan County Fair Closes After Rainy Week
The Morgan County Fair ended with wet weather four nights in a row despite showers. Daren Easter, J C of C general chairman, said about 5 000 people visited the midway and Coliseum exhibits on the final day. He urged Jaycees to help take down tents at 1 30 this afternoon.

A L Johnson vice president and general manager of Alabama Flour Mills Decatur was named chairman of the Large Industries Division for the 1957 Morgan County United Fund Campaign.
