Austinville mayoral candidate assaulted by Jones

Aaron Jones of Austinville is jailed in Morgan county on charges including assault with intent to murder. He allegedly struck J. C. Brumbelow, unopposed mayoral candidate and justice of the peace, with wire pliers, causing severe facial wounds after an exchange near the telephone office. Brumbelow, bloodied but able to help arrest Jones, was hospitalized briefly as authorities filed the warrant and prepared a preliminary hearing.
