Nell Marie Polly fell about 40 feet from a back stairway near Shelmview Station on Bee Line highway, unconscious with skull fracture. Brought to Baugh's infirmary by her parents Aubrey and Mrs Polly, doctors report slim chances of recovery as x-rays are awaited.
Seattle reports indicate Coast Guard ships hunted Don Moyle and Cecil Allen south of the Aleutians after a Dutch Harbor sighting of engine noise revived hope. Weather hampered ground observers as the fliers, who departed Samushiro Beach, Japan, Tuesday with 47 hours of fuel, faced a 2:30 p.m. fuel expiry.

Five white men who escaped from the Morgan County jail Sunday afternoon remain at large with no trace found by officers.
Chicago reports the federal grand jury found nothing to report after review of evidence against Al Capone on prohibition charges. Judge Wilkerson had requested reconsideration to possibly reindict on specified offenses with higher penalties. Capone's motion to change his plea to not guilty was granted.
Mrs. Bula Terrell, an invalid, was found not guilty of killing her husband Barney Terrell, shot March 1. After nine hours of deliberation, she testified she killed to stop his alleged beatings during a dispute over their four year old daughter, who witnessed the tragedy.
Dr Harry Phillips Davis known as the father of radio broadcasting died at his Pittsburgh home after months of illness. He was 63 and vice president of Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing, contributing to radio equipment development and the first public broadcast when KDKA aired the 1920 presidential election returns.
The First Baptist church of Hartselle will open a revival Sunday morning September 13 and continue for two weeks. Rev A Hamilton Reid of Birmingham will conduct services with daily sessions at 10 00 am and 7 30 pm led by Rev Sam Heath the local pastor.

Walter Wolf, a bank department manager and church usher, admitted a long running theft from Continental-Illinois Bank and Trust of Chicago. Over ten years he embezzled more than 1.5 million dollars but profited only about 500. The bank, insured, seeks the largest insurance claim ever filed while most stolen funds were lost in stock and grain markets.

Funds go to charity care. in 1930 over 3000 dollars supported hospital charity cases, with none turned away. Campaign expands to Decatur and neighboring counties Morgan Cullman Marshall Limestone Lawrence to fund charity work.
A Birmingham Legionnaires delegation visited today to back the Legion Special that will carry Alabama to the Detroit national convention. The group included J. Watt, J. Eaton, H. Cain, and A. Powell. It was announced Alabama Legionnaires will be guests in Chicago of the Cub management at the Chicago Brooklyn baseball game.
University of Alabama freshmen began registration at 7 30 a m on Wednesday as John Klepac of Jackson first matriculated followed by Frances Hamilton Tuscaloosa first woman enrolls. Of 447 women with room reservations in Tutwiler Hall and Tutwiler Annex 252 arrived by Tuesday. upperclassmen start Thursday.

Hartselee Sept 10 Special A house owned by Will Thompson of Falkville was destroyed by fire at about two o clock in the morning. The unoccupied residence burned quickly due to dry weather as the fire department arrived. It stood on South Barclay street.
R S Shikie, a Cullman farmer, lay seriously ill after a knife wound near his heart. Pondy Vaughn surrendered to officers in Cullman and is being held as the investigation continues. Shikie’s wife and family described the day’s events as neighbors assisted and he was transported for care.
Jimmie Hill died at his Mt. Moriah home and was laid to rest Sunday. Interment followed at Jones Cemetery, with services held in the community.
