South Vietnam Begins Voting in Landmark Election
South Vietnam began voting for president, vice president, and a 60 member senate as 5,853,251 registered voters cast ballots. Lt Gen Nguyen Van Thieu led the military ticket with Ky for vice president while civilian tickets headed by Phan Khac Suu and Tran Van Huong were expected to poll well. The government also suspended two Vietnamese language newspapers on the eve of the election.

Two Killed In Limestone County Crash
Limestone County Coroner Charlie Sammet identified the dead as Comer Lee Bartlett and his uncle Booker Bartlett, 66. The uncle died at the hospital about two hours after the 1965 Chevrolet left the road and traveled 792 feet before stopping. Witnesses said the car was traveling at least 90 to 100 mph. Burglars Steal 7000 From Wyker and Son Offices
Thieves broke into Wyker and Son offices at 711 Bank Street between Friday night and Saturday morning, opening two safes and taking about 2000 in cash in a State National Bank bag.
