Stocks surge on hopes for Indochina cease-fire

The New York market rose broadly with the noon Dow up 9.40 to 952.21 as gainers outweighed losers more than three to one on moderate volume. Analysts linked the advance to optimism that progress toward a cease-fire in Indochina is near, with the U S Embassy in Saigon reporting progress toward a settlement.
