Madison County Sheriff J. D. Giles says the men who fired on Rev. W. N. Dark of Belle Mina and Sam Key, a church steward, shot at the minister’s car when they believed it would be run down by his vehicle. The statement was released today via the Associated Press.
A Detroit scene reports a baby born to a mother jailed over alleged theft. She claims ignorance of the stolen clothes, saying they were given by a roomer at her mother's home. Four months earlier her husband sent her to Detroit due to his unemployment in St. Louis, and she has heard nothing from him since.
Madison county Sheriff J D Giles said deputies fired on Rev W N Dark's automobile on a rural highway to stop a whisky car raid. Dark said several shots were fired with one bullet passing through the car near his head and near steward 8 G Key, as the car reportedly nearly ran down officers.
