City May Absorb Power Rate Boost
Electric Department Manager Dick Watkins said the city may hold the line against TVA’s anticipated rate increase for next year. He noted strong residential and industrial revenue could allow absorbing all or part of the rise, though the exact percentage remains undetermined. TVA confirmed the increase as it faces coal cost rises and antipollution spending, with a projected $33 yearly hike for the average family bill.
