Medical inspection shapes school health services
Dr. Logan Clendening discusses how medical inspection and school supervision evolved as a modern system. He cites the National Child Health Council guidance for a city of 26 000 to 30 000, detailing roles from general physician to nurses, and notes the shift from parents bearing sole responsibility to school based health care aided by nurses and dentists. A Hygeia story about Dorothy illustrates improvements after addressing posture, breathing, and tonsil issues, highlighted by the nurse’s changing perception of parental attitudes.
