New York December 29 diplomats resume negotiations among the Big Four foreign ministers over war reparations for Italy and Bulgaria. Russia presses Yugoslavia to a larger share than Greece and a final treaty draft could be reached within a week. Molotov and Byrnes show new conciliatory tone as sessions proceed on Danube navigation and Italy reparations.
Lake Success New York November 29. Foreign Minister Kuzma Kiselev of White Russia warns of a third World War with atomic factories running at full power and says atom bomb monopoly cannot last. Deputy FM Vishinsky calls the bomb a sword of Damocles and urges universal disarmament. Russia backs international inspections, while U S senators and British officials discuss veto limits and U N control.
Dr W Russell Trapp of Tuscumbia owns Gangleader the shooting dog stake winner at Wheeler Estate Alabama. Eleven entries and about 30 spectators watched with Crumplers Carolina Nell second and Hunter third. Judges noted two finds and steadiness to wing and shot.
Athens high school guard Everett Dollar remains hospitalized in Limestone after a concussion suffered late in the game with Huntsville last Thursday. Dollar, captain of the team, was injured and is listed in recovery today.
Bob Cochran Alabama back suffered a temporary brain concussion Thursday in the Missouri game. He was unconscious about an hour, taken by ambulance to Decatur General, recovered consciousness after about ten minutes at the hospital. Cochran and brother Ralph are backfield men from Hueytown, with parents credited for being at the game.
Atlee Phillips, injured Decatur Raider center, was moved to the hospital for evaluation and showed signs of steady improvement as doctors monitored his recovery.

Edwin W. Pauley, U. S. reparations commissioner, urged President Truman to reduce Japan to a 1.5 million ton merchant fleet, cap ships at 5,000 tons, and remove war industries. He said Japan would be barred from nitric acid production and other refiners, with strict limits on armaments as a deterrent to future aggression. The plan, sent to Congress, aims to shape policy for an upcoming anti nations conference in December.
John D. Koerber, of Columbia and Birmingham, elected new president of the Alabama State Society in Washington. Ed Donnelly was re-elected secretary and R. B. Vail named treasurer. Nine members from each congressional district were chosen, including Jeff D. and A. F. Harris among others.

CEMING WEL Vernon E Hood, supervisor on a Montgomery housing project, is recovering at his home after a shooting three weeks ago. Hood was wounded in the kidney and liver and was in critical condition after being shot by a dismissed worker. A labor foreman on the job was killed in the same shooting. The shooter, a Black man fired from the job, had returned with a shotgun after being told to leave. The suspect has not been apprehended.
In Mexico City authorities opened a crystal and gold urn claimed to contain the skull bones and a roll of ray. The document dated 1836 was affixed by officials and tied to a 1823 chapel removal during anti Spanish riots. Historians observed as witnesses watched the proceedings.

Probate Judge T C Almon announced that during December 2 through December 6 an agent of the Department of Revenue will be at his office to issue replacement car tags for rusted tags. No obligation to replace. only upon request. Tags will not be issued after that week and must be returned to the Department of Revenue in Montgomery with a replacement letter.
The 1946 Thanksgiving traffic toll rose to at least 63 deaths, surpassing National Safety Council estimates. For October, 3,120 traffic fatalities were recorded and 27,520 the first ten months of the year. California, Illinois and Michigan led with five deaths each. Hartford and New Haven led city tallies in October.
Walter Jackson announces that the Decatur school system will place all building and equipment insurance with one agency. The policy totals 331650 for buildings and 34050 for equipment, prorated among agencies by city tax. Insurance on some buildings rises with replacement values.
The John Rogers residence five miles west of Hartselle on the Danville highway was completely destroyed by fire Thursday morning about nine o'clock. Origin is thought to be a defective flue.
