Good Right Arm: North Alabama LPN program boosts nurse supply
The Tennessee Valley State Vocational Technical School launched a 1954 program sending students to Decatur Huntsville and Florence hospitals for a year of theory and nine months of clinical training. At Decatur General Hospital 88 have graduated with 13 more in training and a new class of 13 starts December 1. Since inception 436 LPNs have graduated helping alleviate local nurse shortages.
