The Red Cross outlines a year of unemployment relief including food, clothing, medicine and seeds. More than 2 200 chapters participated in relief programs and 605 000 farmers received garden seed in 1931 with another 315 000 packets in spring 1932.
The cotton market recovered from Wednesday’s slump and advanced today with New York December futures at 6.30 near market close. Local prices rose to six cents for middling, up from 5.65 after the report.

Thieves forced the back door of Lamar Penney's office on Lee Street Wednesday night, rifled desks and scattered papers but took nothing. Mr. Penney reported the break to police this morning after discovering the incident upon arriving at his office.

Miss Bailey, a University of Alabama student, was transported by Jones ambulance from Tuscaloosa on Wednesday. She is believed to be one of about 60 coeds at the university who suffered a ptomaine poisoning attack over the prior weekend.

Amah and Francis Mitchell, Morgan County residents, were transferred to Madison County jail in Huntsville after arrest on arson charges tied to a house fire last July. Morgan officers arrested them and they were moved due to Morgan jail conditions deemed unsafe.
