Spirit of America festival aims to raise 10000 funds
Decatur Alabama launches a 10000 drive to finance the Spirit of America festival at Point Mallard Park July 2 to 4. Finance Chairman Ray Nixon says most funds come from civic groups and businesses with public donations urged. The event features golf, beauty pageant, concerts, and sports including a Dixie Youth Baseball championship and fastpitch softball game.

The Limestone County town opened the $373000 Dr David E Jackson Memorial Hospital with a five year dream fulfilled. The 38 bed facility expects first patients Monday as open house drew 200 attendees. Dr C H Paine will serve as chief of medical services with Dr Bob Peek joining next month.

Bryce Returns Athens Teen to Stand Trial
A 17-year-old Athens boy Anthony M. Draper was returned from Bryce Hospital to Limestone County jail to face trial for a threatening telephone call. Draper had been committed March 29 for examination and was found sane. trial set for later in summer.
