Astronauts Seek Jobs as Flight Chances Wane
The AP reports most of 73 selected astronauts face reduced chances to fly with Apollo 17 and Skylab. Twenty never flew, eleven have flown but are not assigned, while twelve may ride Apollo 17 or Skylab missions. Many plan to leave for roles in universities, companies, or government, as the shuttle era looms and Slayton warns of an overstaffed office.

Tax Transfer Can Be Helpful For Teens And Parents
The Tax Reform Act of 1969 revised teen tax rules and summer work credits. In 1972 a person can earn up to 2050 dollars tax free, with filings avoided, but a W-4E form may still be needed to prevent withholding. Parents may claim exemptions for children under 19 or full-time students over 19, with a 750 dollar exemption, if they provide half the child’s support. Investment income changes allow the 750 dollar exemption to offset such income, but not the standard deduction. The transfer of income producing property to a child remains a useful strategy for parents or grandparents in higher tax brackets.
