Man 23 Charged in Knife Slashing on Vine Street
Curly Bankston, 23, arrested in county jail on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after Uzcar Fuqua, 22, was slashed in a Sunday night altercation on W Vine Street. Fuqua in serious condition with a severed artery near the shoulder blade and to receive a blood transfusion. Officers Whitmire and Terry filed the warrant sworn by Justice J B Dickinson.

First Aid Class Starts Tonight in Decatur
A Red Cross standard first aid course begins at 7 30 tonight at city hall. Floyd Elkins, chief of Decatur fire department, will lead the sessions. Classes will be held each Monday and Wednesday for the next five weeks.
