Moon Space Center builds earthmoving truck to move Saturn V stages
NASA Marshall Space Flight Center engineers finalize a two-dollies transporter for the S-IC moon rocket stage. The 195 foot long, 33 foot diameter vehicle weighs about 150 tons empty, reaches 5 mph, and uses a 28 foot overhead clearance. It will move between manufacturing, test, and launch sites and later to the Tennessee River barge dock.
