Witness Admits Anti Semitic Campaign Plan Tied to 1936 Election
George E. Deatherage, head of the Knights of the White Camellia, testifies before the House Un American Activities Committee that he discussed an anti Semitic campaign with wealthy Newport Socialites prior to the 1936 election. He says he traveled to Newport in late 1935 or early 1936 to meet interested people including Howland Spencer and dined on his yacht. He claims Spencer provided a little over 200 dollars and others showed interest but let him handle it. The committee traces a plan to unite anti Communist groups in the United States with factions in Italy and Germany. Deatherage had first disclosed this line of inquiry yesterday.

Milton Florida May 24 The state planned to arraign Harvey McGraw on first degree murder charges in the slaying of Clifford Mann and Charles Wilkinson of Montgomery Alabama after a filling station heist. The grand jury returned two indictments naming the youth arrested months ago as the bound bodies were found eight miles north of here. Officers quote McGraw admitting he held up a Georgia Alabama filling station and forced Mann and Wilkinson to drive him away in their car before shooting them.
