INDIANAPOLIS May 23 Major General Lewis B. Hershey national selective service director warned that draft inductions may be needed soon due to falling military enlistments. He said no inductions will occur until peacetime draft law actions are completed.

Blood is Flown In For Proctors
Ten pints of whole blood will be flown from Atlanta to Birmingham this afternoon and relayed to Decatur by the Highway Patrol. Mrs. Frank Kirby of the Morgan County Red Cross says the hospital’s blood supply is low due to Proctor family needs. Ruth Driver notes the Proctors are holding their own and Mary Proctor Maxine Proctor and Joe remain in critical condition with O Neal seriously ill. The blood from Atlanta is due in Birmingham about 12 16 PM and to Decatur by 2 30 PM. Five members of Cliff Odoms Blood Donors club donated blood.

Rabies Treatments Sent to Valley Towns
Six rabies treatments have been dispatched to nearby towns in the past week says C. C. Johnson director of the Decatur Branch Laboratory. No animal heads have yet been submitted for examination. One treatment went Friday to a Russellville girl bitten by a fox. The fox reportedly fled and may still be alive. Four treatments were sent to Florence Thursday and one to Tuscumbia.

Cullman Man Killed In Car Crash Near Decatur
A Cullman farmer died instantly when his 1940 Packard convertible left the road at about 2 50 P M. Passenger Ralph Tankersley 16 Cullman was treated for minor injuries. A Decatur woman Mrs Carrie L Fitzpatrick was seriously hurt stepping off a curb at Second Avenue and Johnston Street. A second Decatur crash injured one in a three car collision at Ninth Street and Sixth Avenue South.
