Two men died by drowning last week near rivers in Alabama. James Willburn Abred of Hillsboro and Avery McAdams of Cullman were found after days of river searches. Three people died in Alabama weekend crashes. Gladys Madison, 23, of Montgomery, died when her car collided with another south of Attalla. W. H. Lyons, a Maxwell Field soldier, was slightly injured. John Henry Caldwell, 3, of Brockton, was struck by a car near his home and died. Robert Archie Thomas, 23, of Birmingham, died from injuries after a motorcycle collision. Thomas was Birmingham’s 12th traffic fatality this year. Others injured include Bernard Baker of Ensley in critical condition after a strike incident.

Buster Brown of near Nee] narrowly escaped serious injury when his car struck a tree on College street, rolled over twice, caught fire and burned. A crowd freed him from the wreck before Decatur firemen arrived. Police fired bullets into the gasoline tank to vent fuel and prevent an explosion. Brown lost control of the car and suffered only a few scratches. The accident occurred shortly after 10 o clock Sunday night.
