In Tennessee river two miles west of Wheeler Dam three men Abner Etheredge Leon Etheredge and Boots Brackin drowned when their light skiff capsized during a sharp windstorm. Rescue efforts by TVA work crews and local farmers continued with the boat found waterlogged near Town Creek. The victims were young Lawrence county farmers from Red Bank and Town Creek Route 2, leaving widows and multiple children.
