A gun exchange near Warrenton Georgia ends with the death of a white planter and the Kinsey brothers Lamar and Will, tenants of Charlie English. A wounded negro was abducted last night and his body found beside a road today as authorities investigate the trio of fatalities.
Local talent appears on the stage at 8:30 for a program headlined by The Singing Trio James Watson Tommy Wells and Aaron Montgomery E D Graves and features blackface dance numbers Jesse Reed Howland Saxophone and piano quartet Northey Cox George Nunn James Weaver and Huel Murphy piano specialty Judith Frances Chandler back and wing dance Hank Roberts.
The Census Bureau reports April cotton consumption at about 494 thousand bales, down from 494 thousand in March and 366 thousand a year earlier. It lists April 30 stocks at over 1.3 million bales in consuming establishments and more than eight million bales in public storage and at compresses.
Heavy profit taking sent stocks lower with losses of one to two dollars a share. The market partly recovered in the second hour before selling intensified again. United States Steel common dropped to 47.50 as hog prices rose to 5.00 per hundredweight for the first time since August. The tape lagged with half a million shares traded.

She spoke on The Sign On the Door citing Exodus 12 and shared experiences of God protecting her family in China. She promised further sermons Listen for the Whisper and The Two Roads with three professions yesterday and twelve last night.
H. L. Kirby announced a public speaking event at the Delite Theatre Monday night at 7 30. The talk titled How To Bring Better Times aims to include several short talks on the theme and invites the public to attend.
B T Collier son of E W Collier city clerk and former local resident now of Clarksdale Mississippi visits Decatur. He is county engineer of Coahoma County Mississippi and supervises construction of a 40 mile straight concrete highway noted as the longest in the world with no curves and clear sightlines.
Fire departments responded to a vacant Fairview dwelling owned by the New Morgan County Building and Loan Association just before midnight. The residence was destroyed with the origin undetermined and firefighters could not save it, marking the second alarm this month.
County farmers and orchard owners brace for periodical cicadas known to emerge every 13 years. Entomologists warn swarms may reach Alabama this month with damage mainly to fruit trees as nymphs mature and lay eggs in limbs.

Ruby Miller, a Negro woman, was killed by stab wounds at her West Walnut street home Friday night. Robeson, arrested four miles west of Decatur after a sighting near Southern Railway tracks, denies killing her but admits a scuffle. He is held for grand jury action and jailed.
Friday May 12 marked a Rotary Club of Decatur event as Allen H. Bagg third vice president of Rotary International spoke on global service and values. Henry Cullom presided while Decatur guests included Mrs Bragg Algernon Blair Fred Bennett R J Williams Arthur Cook Immer Cook Wyatt Hale and others.
Grady Huie, charged with burgling Summerford's store at Falkville on March 18, appeared for a preliminary hearing before Judge W T Lowe and bond was set at 750 dollars. Hearing on burglarizing the Gulf Refining office at Canal and Water street on the same night was continued until May.
A federal report released today cites thirty years of soil survey maps showing large parts of several counties suitable only for reforestation and others with poor agricultural value. Areas labeled marginal or sub-marginal include many counties in Alabama and surrounding regions.
The regular meeting of Albany Council No 22 Junior Order of United American Mechanics held at O F hall appointed committees to arrange memorial services soon. After business, attendees enjoyed Brunswick stew.
Washington May 13 conference participants reported a complete accord on the administration Tennessee Valley development Muscle Shoals bill. Early Senate approval will be sought. Senator Norris praised the measure as the best Muscle Shoals bill ever passed.
Reverend Roy Hulett of the Hartselie Methodist church will return to the Ninth Street church to deliver the final sermon in a series begun by invitation of the personal evangelical committee. Pepper, the chairman, will preside at the final meeting of the week at 7 oclock with preaching at 730.
Gabriel Over the White House stars Walter Hutson as the President and opens at the Princess Theatre Monday and Tuesday. Goodrich Silvertown Inc joins in a safety by showing the film with authentic Washington scenes including the executive mansion and two houses. A tire blowout causes a car crash injuring the President and altering the nation's fate.
A report notes several Alabama and Georgia communities with statewide bans on alcohol moving to allow 3.2 beer. State officials face interpretation questions as local votes or ordinances test federal and state laws on beverage legality.
The Hardwick council adopted a Friday ordinance setting a ten dollar annual license for retail dealers and an effective May 17. Editor B E Sullivan cites eighteenth amendment federal prerogatives permitting beverages up to 32 percent alcohol. He notes about 95 percent of townspeople favored the measure.
Representatives of Methodist Sunday schools in the Decatur district will meet Sunday afternoon at 2 30 o clock in the First Methodist church. Dr L G Sturdivant presiding elder urges every Sunday school teacher and worker to enroll for the first session. Courses include The Pupil by Mrs Holine.
