Harwichport Massachusetts May 3 three men abducted Margaret McMath a ten year old girl from a school room as fog cloaked Cape Cod the child daughter of Neil McMath and granddaughter of Detroit business leaders was seized by a large black man and two white men while the teacher was phoned and a chauffeur waited the father says no extortion notes were received.
Fire Chief Ellis Jones announced that Decature apportioned seven fire alarms in April the smallest monthly total in 1933 aside from July 1932. Property damage was minimal, most alarms caused by grass fires. A December incident saw seven grass fires in five hours, a record unlikely to be matched soon.

Birmingham Electric faces May 26 appearance and Alabama Power June 20 in Montgomery. Southern Bell had a June 6 citation.

They base the estimate on a hard-boiled calculation, assuming taxes yield no more than this year. Birmingham police report two men, John James McDaniel and Harry Wells, held in a payroll robbery case. McDaniel and Wells were arrested in May 1930 in Louisville after bonds were posted, with Wells later escaping from Etowah county jail. J Reeder also forfeited a $10,000 bond and awaits trial.
Funeral services for Miss Eunice Smith were conducted by Dr. J. E. and Rev. G. M. Hall after a several week illness. Interment followed in Athens City Cemetery. She is survived by sister Mrs. T. E. Gilbert and brother R. A. Smith, both of Athens.
