Police investigations into the Easter triple slaying of Ve roncia Gedeon 20 and two others led to the arrest of a man identified as Louis or Frenchy. Inspector Thomas Tunney said the suspect was taken from a tenement house across from the Gedeon family home where Mary Gedeon 54 ran a rooming house.
March 20 report details a triple murder in an artist model home as police investigate the deaths of a young beauty, her mother, and a lodger. Detectives pursue leads and urge anyone with information to come forward.
Evelyn Drake, who wrote a confession for a detective magazine, is found dead while in hiding from an alleged slaver. Model Veronica Gedeon, who posed for Drake’s pictures, is found murdered in her East 50th Street home.
In Beekman Hill another triple murder shocks New York as Veronica Gedeon 20 and her mother 54 are strangled and beaten to death while a roomer Frank Byrnes 35 is stabbed. The killings likely occurred between 7 p.m. Saturday and 4 a.m. Easter Sunday with a police probe narrowing suspects to a few.
Mrs. Mary Etta Bloodworth 80 died Sunday morning after a long illness at 419 Johnston St. Funeral from the home at 2:30 led by Rev. W. P. Reeves. Burial in city cemetery. Survivors: three daughters Claire Bloodworth, Mrs. Kimball Jones, Mrs. J N Chase. two sons F A Bloodworth, Ben M Bloodworth. eight grandchildren. Pallbearers listed. Preceded in death by husband B M Bloodworth. She was a longtime Central Baptist member.
Frank G. Lowe of Grosse Isle Michigan avoided a head on crash by driving into a ditch on the Bee Line highway seven miles south of here. R W LaTour of Houston Tex riding with Lowe was slightly hurt. Benevolent Society Hospital treated him. State highway patrolman W A Whitely investigated and said a car driven by W G Mangrum a negro turned off left forcing Lowe to choose the ditch over a collision.
Governor Bibb Graves named State Representative A. D. Kirby of Scottsboro probate judge of Jackson County. Kirby succeeds R. McAnelly who resigned, effective March 29 in Montgomery Alabama.
Heavyweight champion James Braddock was served with a court order barring his Chicago bout with Joe Louis on June 22 until he first fulfills a title defense in New York against Max Schmeling on June 3.
Gates opened for thousands of children under ten and accompanying adults on the White House lawn for the annual Easter Monday egg roll. A Marine Band concert was planned for later, with forecasts of crowds near last year's 48,500 despite chilly weather. Mrs. Roosevelt arranged magic and a puppet show, and hoped the president could view briefly from a portico.
The Ministerial Association endorsed Judge Seybourn Lynne's interpretation of Alabama liquor statutes and named Rev. J. F. Ray to visit Judge Lynne to convey appreciation. Chattanooga Tenn Mar 29 UP James Beriah Frazier 80 former Tennessee United States senator and twice governor died suddenly at his home yesterday of a heart ailment. He was alone in his study when stricken. Relatives said the funeral would probably be held tomorrow afternoon. After losing reelection to Luke Lea in 1911 he devoted his time to a large law practice.
Funeral rites for Edmond Ellett Gunn 79 will be held at 2:30 Tuesday from 415 East Lafayette street conducted by Rev. Jesse F. Ray. Burial follows at the family cemetery near Trinity with Brown in charge. Gunn died 7:30 Sunday night after a heart attack at Central Baptist church while on the way to Benevolent Society Hospital. He is survived by a son Edmond Jr, a brother T H Gunn of Decatur, a sister Mrs Julius Pettue of Huntsville, and several nephews and nieces. Nephews will be pallbearers.
Washington March 29 A new child labor amendment backed by Senator Vandenberg would limit federal power by applying to children age 16 and allowing Congress to legislate against child labor only when it is for hire The existing 1924 amendment covers children up to 18 and has faced criticism for expanding government reach into youths activities
Fire investigators Fred Martin and W- 8s. Staritor are due back in Decatur Tuesday to resume probing the March 23 fire at the L and N shop yards. Fire Chief Floyd Elkins said they left for Montgomery for the weekend and will return to continue the inquiry.
In Lansing on March 20, Chrysler Corp officials and United Auto Workers held their tenth session on exclusive recognition. Walter P. Chrysler board chairman John Lewis attended briefly as talks continued amid optimism a long deadlock might end soon. Governor Murphy noted the absence of Lewis would not derail the negotiations.

In Aurora Illinois a mother kills her three children and then hangs herself after his absence Easter services preceded the tragedy. Police report says Mrs. John Martin strangled Jean 3 Jeannette 2 and Joan 8 months old then hanged herself with a clothesline. The husband had left for work and sent a card from Centralia Illinois March 23 saying he would send money.

Burglars struck the First Baptist church in Knoxville on Easter Sunday night. They entered via a side window after services, broke six door glasses to reach the main office safe, battered the combination, and stole about $15.
